ANTIQUE VICTORIAN DIAMOND BRACELET 18K GOLD

This is a stunning antique Victorian gold bracelet, crafted in a delicate crossover bypass motif. The upper polished squared terminals are prong set with old Mine cut ciamonds, and the upper shoulders of this lovely work of art are detailed with Etruscan gold bead work of the highest quality. This lovely bracelet has been remarkably well preserved.

The gold is not marked, but has been throughly tested throughout the entire piece and tests positive for 18K. Total gold weight - 14.1 grams. There are minor surface scratches on this bracelet, as well as some slight age patina near the upper terminals. I will leave the decision to clean or polish to the new owner.

The upper squared areas of the crossover motif measure 1/2" each. Inset in hand crafted buttercup prong settings are Old Mine cut diamonds, total weight as measured in settings approximately 1/2 carat, with each diamond just under 1/4 carat as measured.

Diamonds: 3.95 x 3.7 x 2.7 mm depth - estimated weight .23 carat and 4.0 x 3.75 x 2.7 mm depth with estimated weight of .24 carat. Weights as measured: .47 carat twt. They are both of very high color grade, H or better, and VS2 to SI1 internally. One diamond has a small visible natural on the girdle edge. Because of their high crown height and cushion shapes, weights are provisional based upon difficulty of measurement in their settings.

The bracelet circumference is 7 1/2", with an inside wrist diameter measurement of 2". This smaller wrist size is quite typical of antique Victorian jewelry as the average wrist size of Victorian women was indeed much smaller than today. The thickness of the bracelet bangle measures 5.0 mm.

The inside lower edge of the bangle near the hinge is marked with a cartouche. It reads: Pat. Nov 12, '78. (1878). This area has been photographed at 30X.. ID=Victoriandiamondbracelet
